Headquartered in Cincinnati, OH, Berean Christian Stores is a specialty retailer selling books, bibles, music, video, apparel, giftware, home décor, curriculum, and church supplies at 26 stores in 8 states, including California and Arizona.

Serving Christian customers and churches for over 70 years, Berean works to provide a clean, attractive, and welcoming environment, combined with the industry’s broadest product assortment and best service at competitive prices.  Berean also works to sponsor enriching programming for the Christian community, including monthly events for kids like Story Time and American Girls Club, as well as events focused on adults like book signings.  Many Berean stores have common areas available for use by bible study groups, crafting clubs, church-sponsored events, and other community gatherings.

In 2006, JMH partnered with certain members of senior management to acquire Berean Christian Stores from its former corporate parent.  Following the management buyout, Berean closed on two add-on acquisitions:  Wellspring Bookstores, located in Louisville, KY, and Provident Bookstores, with four stores in Pennsylvania and Ohio.  Berean remains an active acquirer of leading independent bookstores.
